Rita was married to her husband Reid for 50 years. The couple had one son who died prior to her death. Rita was a charter member of St. Rita Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Rita was murdered by a group of men who invaded her home to rob her as part of a gang initiation.
