Advocates of juvenile murderers often lie about the facts regarding specific offenders to promote their agenda. Despite physical evidence, credible witness testimony, and reliable confessions, advocates lie and claim that the offenders are completely innocent or they minimize their role in the crime. This is very hurtful and inconsiderate. If their arguments against juvenile life without parole (JLWOP) were convincing they wouldn’t need to lie to free these offenders. They would be able to acknowledge what they did but explain why their freedom is warranted. But because releasing these criminals is not warranted when considering what they did, advocates have to lie.
NOVJM takes no position on the sentences specific offenders should get. Accordingly, our organization is not opposed to or supportive of releasing any of these offenders. But we do ask for honesty in regards to these cases, rather than misrepresentations and lies.
